Do you have a daily routine? A weekly one? Maybe a monthly one? I sure as heck do. I believe that without my routine, I would be lost. I would like to classify myself as an almost female Sheldon Lee Cooper. If you have no idea who that is, then look him up, lol). Now back to routines. Routines may seem mundane to some but they are actually quite helpful. By adapting a routine, we can spend our time on more productive things, and less energy on non-complex tasks. We tend to sleep and even eat better when we adapt a pattern that suits us.
So, share with us your routine. What is your typical morning, afternoon, evening routine? Do they differ on different days? If something derails your routine, what do you do? Are you flexible? Become upset? Has your procedure changed since the pandemic? If so, how?
Per theconversion.com, a pattern shows that regular routines and habits can support adults to function better in their home environments. What do you do daily in your home that constitutes a pattern? Is there something you MUST do every day or it just seems….not right? I can honestly say this is me. Everything must be in its place before I turn in for the night. It is a peace of mind for me. I mean, even my shoes at the side of my bed have to be in their place. (I tend to get peev’d if I have to search for footwear in the middle of the night).
What about an activity? Do you engage in some events with friends? A team? These are a positive outlet for a person’s mental health. I will say, this is lacking in my life currently. I am currently not involved in any sort of physical activity. I might need to add this into my schedule. What is the activity that you have incorporated into your life that gives you peace of mind?
Do you need some hints or tips to construct a bit of a routine in your life? If so, here are some helpful ideas:
Change one thing at a time.
Rethink the way you think.
Wake up and go to bed at a regular time.
Use an alarm to schedule activities.
Aim for physical activities that you can do.
Go ahead and start a new hobby.
Whatever you decide to do, make sure that your routine does not become stressful to you. Life is too short to be stressed, overwhelmed and overworked. Your life (and routine) should make you happy, calm, fun, and most of all healthy, in all ways.
